Late-shift tasks
Open the store, handle returns, help customers, and close up after dark.
First-person psychological horror
You found an unlabeled VHS in the return bin. Now it knows where you live.
Story
Kyle works late shifts at a small video rental store that feels stuck in the 1990s: fluorescent lights, buzzing neon, returned tapes, soda orders, customers looking for one more movie before closing. One night, an unlabeled VHS appears in the return bin.
In the back office, Kyle plays it. The tape shows still photos, typed captions, static, and distorted audio. It seems to document the store's past, but the footage becomes more personal with every viewing: the back room, the apartment hallway, the road through the woods, and moments that should not have been recorded.
Gameplay
Last Copy blends first-person exploration with simple, tactile video store tasks. Serve customers, sort returned tapes, rewind cassettes, pour Splash Rocket fountain drinks, check the old computer, watch TV, and follow the tape's trail as familiar rooms begin to contradict themselves.
This is not combat-first horror. The dread builds from sound, light, repetition, altered spaces, strange encounters, and the feeling that normal closing-shift rituals have become unsafe.
Open the store, handle returns, help customers, and close up after dark.
Watch tape segments whose images become more personal each day.
Explore the store, apartment, woods, and places the tape should not know.
Follow clues through journal entries, photos, emails, static, and light.
